The new BMW i4 xDrive40

The introduction of the 2024 i4 xDrive40, a new all-wheel-drive model, will help the i4 range build on its current success. The i4 xDrive40, which sits below the 536-horsepower i4 M50, can accelerate from 0 to 60 in only 4.9 seconds thanks to its dual electric motors’ combined 396 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The i4 xDrive40’s lithium-ion battery has a net useable energy capacity of 80.7 kWh and can be charged at a DC fast charger’s maximum rate of 205 kW. The projected range, based on preliminary tests by BMW AG and the EPA’s test method criteria, is 307 miles with the 18-inch standard aerodynamically optimized wheels or 282 miles with the optional 19-inch wheels.

The 7 Series now offers two electrified variants, including the 740i's xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive

BMW will release two new electrified 7 Series vehicles for the model year 2024, following the introduction of the i7 M70 xDrive, the most potent completely electric BMW ever.

2024 750e xDrive combines a 194-hp GEN5 electric motor installed in the transmission with a 308-hp TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter 6-cylinder internal combustion engine. With a maximum system output of 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, the 750e xDrive can perform energetically and have an estimated all-electric range of more than 35 miles (estimated range based on preliminary BMW AG tests based on the EPA’s test method criteria).

When it debuts in the US market in the fall of 2023, the 2024 BMW 750e xDrive will have a base price of $107,000 plus $995 destination and handling.

The single-motor, rear-wheel drive i7 eDrive50 will debut in the third quarter of 2023, joining the dual-motor, all-wheel drive BMW i7 xDrive60 and i7 M70 xDrive. With 449 horsepower, the lone GEN5 motor propels the back axle.

When it goes on sale in the fall of 2023, the 2024 BMW i7 eDrive50 will have a starting price of $105,700 plus $995 for destination and handling. Data on range and performance will be made public closer to the market introduction.

Finally, beginning with July manufacturing, the xDrive-equipped BMW 740i with 375 horsepower will be offered. Intelligent all-wheel drive’s increased traction reduces the 0-60 time from 5.1 seconds to 4.9 seconds while delivering safe, confident handling in any condition.

The base price of the 2024 BMW 740i xDrive will be $99,400 plus $995 for destination and handling, with deliveries starting in the third quarter of 2023.

Introduction of the BMW Operating System 8.5

The following iteration of BMW’s iDrive operating system will debut in some models in the summer of 2023.

On the BMW Curved Display, a new home screen with logically organized functionality offers increased usability. It is now possible to pick a desired function without first entering a submenu thanks to the new zero-layer principle, which ensures that all pertinent functions and information are displayed on a single level. Instead, the driver’s side of the user interface features live widgets that may be accessed by touching them.

QuickSelect functionality enables touch-based interaction with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant to begin, as well as a quick selection of entertainment programs, contact lists, and vehicle settings. And to return to the home screen after selecting the necessary settings, simply tap briefly on the home icon at the display’s lower edge.
The Home symbol is now joined by the icons for immediate access to the navigation, media, communication, Apple CarPlay ®, and Android Auto TM menus, as well as the All Apps menu and the climate control menu.

In July, production of the BMW iX, i4, and 7 Series cars will begin using the new BMW Operating System 8.5. BMW X5 and BMW X6 cars (M variants do not have QuickSelect), BMW X7 models, and BMW XM models (without QuickSelect) will all receive the new system in August.
